HIKING and RESPONSIBLE TOURISM
Lord Byron Educational Tours has been arranging trekking tours for years . We call them SLOW HIKING that meets the criteria of the Responsible Tourism in Italy and in the world.
A “slow walk” aims to:
- the knowledge of a way of living that respects the Earth and the different cultures in the world;
- the enrichment of our already great wealth of emotions, going to walk around the world, increasing our curiosity and wish to meet new people;
- the journey rather than the destination of the trip. We are not interested in reaching the highest peaks or winning competitions.
The trekking tours and other trips that we suggest can be easy or difficult depending on the degree of fitness of partecipants, whether they should partecipate in an itinerant trek (which includes overnight stays in different places every day) or in a trek where overnight stays are in the same facility or in a trek where luggage is carried from one accommodate on to another one every day. Treks will be easier if you are able to walk with your backpack for some days and if you can fit to a refuge living and share group living, but they may be a bit more difficult for everybody when both uphill and down- hill steep gradients will be faced; harsh weather conditions and long transfers may cause some difficulties. Everyone should always be in good physical conditions.
All partecipants are covered by an insurance policy for accidents that may happen during the trip.
Our “slow walk” wants to raise awareness of way of living different from the one we are experiencing every day, in respect of the Earth and the different cultures of the peoples living in it.
